Principal Mechanical Engineer (Building Services)

At WSP we offer a global scale of projects and a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives. In this role you will lead mechanical engineering design, supervise teams, and drive client delivery across a wide range of building services projects.

• Lead the mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) discipline team as a project manager, providing technical advice and design leadership.
• Supervise completion of detailed designs and guide the work of other engineers.
• Consider feasibility and lead overall feasibility studies.
• Direct production of detailed and performance specifications for the discipline.
• Act as the client’s key point of contact responsible for overall project delivery and internal KPIs.
• Provide excellent client care and develop opportunities for additional business.
• Develop and line‑manage junior staff, briefing the project team and ensuring contracts and resource planning are in place.
• Maintain project overview, resourcing and quality, holding regular team meetings and supporting the discipline’s team leader.
• Represent WSP to clients and lead engineering delivery teams delivering innovative and sustainable solutions.
• Incorporate net zero, digital design, modern methods of construction and smart systems into design work.

• Proven track record delivering UK building services MEP projects of varying scale and sector.
• Strong technical judgment and resourcefulness in feasibility studies, concept, scheme and detailed design.
• Experience with UK mechanical building services design, relevant standards, codes and regulations.
• Working knowledge of Revit MEP or other 3D design software for allocation and direction of work.
• Ability to manage technical, cost and programme elements of project delivery.
• UK vetting level of Security Check (SC) required.
