Operations Manager, HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer
Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled HVAC & Refrigeration Manager to shape the future of our building services, uplift operational standards, and drive meaningful energy efficiencies across our portfolio. This role plays a critical part in how our stores are powered, cooled, and maintained today and for the future.
WhatYou'll Be Doing
- Your main focus will be to influence the design of HVAC and refrigeration solutions from the outset, working closely with teams to set innovative standards for M&S building services.
- Influence design reviews and technical signoff, challenging lifecycle cost, maintainability, access, and projected energy performance.
- Ensure flawless project handover through high-quality commissioning, accurate asset tagging, and robust O&M documentation aligned with FM requirements.
- Build and manage a rolling remediation plan addressing defects, obsolescence, safety risks, and system criticality, embedding permanent fixes through root cause investigations.
- Set technical standards and operational procedures for FM partners (including City FM), verifying delivery through audits, data insights, and governance of major repairs, changeovers, spares, and warranty recovery.
- Drive energy and performance optimisation by partnering with the Energy Efficiency Manager to identify high ROI interventions and analysing system performance (kWh/m², load profiles, runtimes) to deliver targeted improvements.
- A technically strong engineer with experience in commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Skilled in design standards, commissioning processes, and system optimisation.
- Confident influencing stakeholders, challenging suppliers, and driving continuous improvement.
- Data driven with a passion for energy efficiency, performance optimisation, and sustainable operation.
