Mechanical Inspector

Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has a new opportunity for a Mechanical Inspector on 3 months contract initially with a possibility of further extension.

• Inspect, monitor, and ensure the quality and compliance of mechanical installations, including:
• Heating systems upgrades.
• Heat interface units (HIUs).
• Heat metering systems.
• Gas boiler replacements.
• Low carbon solutions such as heat pumps and related technologies.
• Verify that all work aligns with technical specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
• Liaise with contractors, engineers, and project managers to ensure seamless delivery of projects within the agreed timeframe and budget.
• Identify and report defects, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
• Conduct regular site visits and prepare detailed inspection reports.
• Support the integration of innovative, sustainable technologies aimed at reducing carbon emissions.

• Proven experience in mechanical inspections within a capital works or retrofit programme.
• Strong knowledge of heating systems, including gas boilers, HIUs, and heat pumps.
• Familiarity with low‑carbon technologies and sustainable building practices.
• Excellent understanding of compliance standards, building regulations, and health & safety requirements.
• Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or a related field.

Must hold a Commercial Gas Certificate
