An exciting position has become available within the Quantum team of a leading international expert witness consultancy based in Central London.

This is a rare opening for a professional with 4+ years of quantity surveying experience to transition into the elite field of quantum analysis and construction disputes.

In this role, you’ll work directly alongside world-renowned quantum experts—many ranked by Lexology Who’s Who Legal—on some of the most complex and high-value international arbitration cases. You’ll contribute to expert reports, deliver analytical insights, and play a pivotal role in shaping dispute strategies across multiple sectors and jurisdictions.

This position would ideally suit:

  • Quantity Surveyors / Senior Quantity Surveyors ready to make a career-defining move into construction disputes, or
  • Consultants / Associates already in the expert witness space seeking greater exposure, autonomy, and advancement.

The consultancy offers a highly competitive salary and an intellectually stimulating environment, excellent mentorship, and a clear pathway to becoming an expert witness. You will gain exposure to landmark projects and international clients while working in a supportive, professional, and collaborative culture.

Responsibilities and Duties

This role presents a unique opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to step into the world of quantum construction disputes. You will join a high-performing team supporting the delivery of premium, long-term international arbitration projects.

You will provide analytical support to leading experts across multiple concurrent disputes, gaining exposure to all stages of the expert witness process.

As you progress, you’ll take on greater responsibility—eventually owning sections of expert reports, conducting detailed analyses, drafting findings, and collaborating directly with legal counsel and solicitors. This exposure offers an exceptional platform to build your reputation and network in the international disputes community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting early-stage research, analysis, and drafting accurate, detailed expert reports on major disputes.
  • Supporting expert witnesses with quantum analysis and joint statements for dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Assisting with submissions to the ICC and other arbitral bodies, analysing changes in design, scope, and cost.
  • Reviewing and interpreting contemporaneous project data to assess causation and quantum impacts.
  • Working under the guidance of senior colleagues to deliver quantum analysis in high-value international infrastructure arbitrations.
  • Liaising internally and externally to collate documentation and evidence relevant to disputes.
  • Supporting the preparation of presentations, demonstratives, and cross-examination materials for expert testimony.
Desired Skills and Experience

You’ll bring strong quantity surveying foundations and a clear ambition to specialise in dispute resolution and expert witness work.

Key requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in quantity surveying, ideally with a reputable consultancy or contractor on large, complex projects.
  • Strong contractual and commercial understanding, with familiarity in standard forms of contract.
  • A keen interest in construction disputes, claims, and arbitration procedures.
  • Highly analytical, methodical, and detail-focused approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written work and clear, structured analysis.
  • Professional, confident, and collaborative demeanour.
  • A genuine passion to develop a long-term career in construction claims and disputes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related construction discipline.
  • Chartered status (MRICS / MInstCES / equivalent) or working towards it is highly desirable.
