Position: TP141/SR141 Commissioning Engineer
Location: City Of London

Summary

We are seeking an experienced TP141 / SR141 Commissioning Engineer to join ongoing high‑profile power and infrastructure projects in South London. In this role, you’ll apply your expertise to deliver safe and efficient commissioning and testing of protection systems, supporting critical network operations. This position is ideal for engineers with National Grid authorisations who are passionate about working in safety‑critical environments on major projects.

NRL is supporting major UK power and infrastructure schemes, offering specialist recruitment and workforce solutions across engineering sectors.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out commissioning, functional testing, and fault‑finding activities on primary and secondary electrical systems.
  • Execute protection testing and commissioning aligned with TP141 / SR141 authorisations.
  • Develop and review commissioning documentation, including test plans, method statements, and reports.
  • Liaise with project engineers, control room staff, and client representatives for safe energisation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety rules, quality standards, and project procedures.
  • Support outage planning, witness testing, and documentation for handover requirements.
Must‑have Requirements
  • Valid TP141 and/or SR141 National Grid authorisation.
  • Demonstrable experience commissioning HV electrical systems within substations or similar environments.
  • Strong understanding of protection and control systems, relays, and commissioning methodologies.
  • Competent in reading and interpreting technical drawings and protection schematics.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and experience in regulated environments.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Nice‑to‑have Skills
  • Experience on National Grid or UK DNO projects.
  • Additional SAP or commissioning authorisations.
  • Ability to work flexibly during outages and extended hours when needed.
