The Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining the detailed Construction Schedule, ensuring integration with 3rd Party Interfaces and Design / Procurement Programme. The individual will work as part of the Project and report to the Planning Lead for Hospital projects.
The role is responsible for the management of the superstructures and envelope packages, working in a collaborative planning environment. The role includes the development and management of programme, integration of subcontract works packages, co‑ordination and reporting against measured baselines.
Key Responsibilities- Produce level three programmes for work packages and develop programmes for tender purposes.
- Review contractors’ programmes returned with tenders and make comments as appropriate to support the procurement process.
- Review, development and optimisation of construction methodology and site logistics.
- Lead on the schedule review of contractor claims or disputes.
- Review the detailed work schedules produced by contractors and ensure that they comply with strategic programmes the work breakdown structure.
- Produce logistics analysis and layouts to support the programme.
- Produce programmes necessary to coordinate works between packages.
- Establish Programme level commissioning and testing schedules taking account of project interfaces and planned completion schedules.
- Monitor the progress of the works on site against key milestones and report progress in accordance with the monthly cycle and Earned value rules and processes.
- Resource and cost loading input of data to produce earned value reports for packages of the works.
- Report on adequacy of time risk allowances and any erosion due to events.
- Support the Project Manager, Planning Lead & Project Controls Manager regarding all issues relating to schedule.
- Support collation of Project Data, best practice and project benchmark information.
- Liaise with the Planning Lead & Project Controls Manager to ensure that an accurate assessment of project progress is always available.
- Liaise continuously with members of the team to ensure that all activities are co‑ordinated and that interface issues are identified at the earliest possible time and co‑ordinated within the overall programme.
- Work with Project Managers and sub‑consultants to resolve issues and develop programmes to mitigate delay.
- Proven ability to use IT systems and advanced Excel.
- Relevant experience with various types of contracts and compiling documentation.
- Experience of different techniques for project planning, risk management, cost control.
- Knowledge of Primavera P6.
- Knowledge of EVA techniques.
- Knowledge of risk management processes and cost risk assessment.
- Communication (written and verbal).
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with the team and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage time effectively to meet key deadlines.
- Ability to analyse problems and propose effective solutions.
- Able to work collaboratively and lead a team.
- Demonstrable years’ experience of project planning.
- Experience on large (£100m plus) projects.
- MAPM or formal PM/planning qualification.
- Experience in the hospital environment or Major Construction Programmes.
