Electrical Design Engineer – Renewable Energy
Location:
London (hybrid work pattern 2 days office)
Salary Banding: £100k‑£140k + benefits
Our client, a fast‑growing organisation in the renewable energy sector is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with a track record in the energy sector.
Responsibilities- Take ownership of engineering activities through the project lifecycle – technical design, client and supplier engagement, to installation.
- Manage and coordinate multiple projects collaborating with the Project Management team.
- Lead on the development of electrical designs and schematics.
- Work closely with suppliers and contractors to review their work.
- Provide expert advice for suppliers and customers.
- Degree or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status (or actively working towards chartership) through a relevant professional institution.
- Proven success in the electrical engineering field, in the design, specification, and/or construction of solar PV and BESS projects, gained within a consultancy, EPC contractor, or developer environment.
- Strong background in relevant projects and applications across the renewable energy sector with a proven track record in complex engineering projects.
- Ability to prepare high‑quality technical reports, specifications, and client‑facing documentation.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and provide technical leadership.
- Experience reviewing and approving engineering designs and deliverables.
- Calm, pragmatic and structured under pressure.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced SME environment with a hands‑on approach.
- Highly motivated and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong attention to detail, with a diligent and proactive approach to project delivery.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Driving licence (preferred).
