Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Electromechanical)

Up to £48k + Bonus + Benefits

South East - Permanent A

A well-established SME manufacturing organisation is seeking an electrically biased maintenance engineer (approx. 60% electrical / 40% mechanical) to support its production facility. The company operates large-scale industrial machinery serving sectors including defence and offshore energy.

This role would suit a hands‑on engineer with strong electrical maintenance expertise, particularly in the maintenance, fault‑finding and repair of AC and DC motors and industrial electrical systems, alongside solid mechanical maintenance capability.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will support both planned preventive and reactive maintenance programmes to maximise plant reliability and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). With in‑house design and manufacturing expertise, the company offers long‑term stability and career development within a well‑established engineering environment.

Shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm (some overtime available)

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide first‑line electrical maintenance and repair support for production machinery.
  • Maintain, fault‑find and repair AC/DC motors and associated industrial control systems.
  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and respond to breakdowns.
  • Support mechanical maintenance activities where required (approx. 40%).
  • Assist with continuous improvement and equipment upgrade projects.
  • Work closely with production teams to maximise equipment uptime.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Identify potential reliability issues and implement preventive solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Completed engineering apprenticeship or equivalent industrial training.
  • Recognised engineering qualification (City & Guilds, BTEC or similar).
  • Strong electrical maintenance experience within manufacturing or heavy industry.
  • Proven experience maintaining AC and DC motors on large industrial machinery essential.
  • Good mechanical maintenance knowledge advantageous.
Preferred Skills
  • Electrical fault‑finding and diagnostics on industrial equipment.
  • Experience with drives, motors, control panels and production machinery.
  • Mechanical fitting skills including hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • This role is primarily electrically biased; therefore, strong electrical maintenance experience is essential. Mechanical experience is beneficial but can be developed within the role.
Package & Benefits
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays.
  • Private healthcare (BUPA).
  • Pension scheme.
  • Bonus scheme.
  • Uniform provided.
  • Death in service (3x salary).
  • Shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm (up to £48k + some overtime).

Salary depends on experience.
