Parking Schemes Officer (Traffic Management & Design)
Location:
Twickenham (Civic Centre Annex) with occasional travel to Wandsworth offices
Rate: £32.00 to £38.00 per hour
Contract:
Initial 6-month contract with 3-month review
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Parking Schemes Officer to support the management and delivery of parking schemes across Richmond and Wandsworth. This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy and dynamic team responsible for developing and maintaining parking controls, traffic management measures, and parking infrastructure. The successful candidate will play a key role in progressing traffic regulation projects from initial site assessment through to implementation.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake site visits to assess existing parking and traffic restrictions at junctions and other locations.
- Review locations and develop proposals for the introduction of Double Yellow Lines (DYLs) where appropriate.
- Prepare detailed design drawings using AutoCAD for Traffic Management Order (TMO) advertising, producing plans in A3 and A4 formats.
- Assist in the preparation and progression of Traffic Management Orders (TMOs) through the statutory process to implementation.
- Support the day-to-day management of parking schemes and council car parks.
- Conduct site inspections and develop practical parking and traffic management solutions.
- Prepare technical drawings and recommendations for scheme improvements.
- Assist, where required, with the preparation and coordination of works orders.
- Manage workload effectively against agreed programmes and deliver projects within strict financial year deadlines.
- Proven experience in parking, traffic management, highways, or transportation projects.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Experience using KeyLINES, KeySIGNS, and Sign Plot.
- Experience preparing technical drawings and traffic management proposals.
- Knowledge of Traffic Management Orders and the statutory processes associated with parking restrictions.
- Ability to undertake site visits and independently assess parking and traffic situations.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a programme of work to tight deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
