I am recruiting on behalf of an established M&E Contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in London.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with a Mechanical or Electrical building services background who is looking to develop their career within a growing M&E business.
Electrical experience would be particularly advantageous, although candidates with a strong Mechanical QS background will also be considered.
The RoleAs Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of M&E projects from tender through to final account, working closely with project teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
Key responsibilities will include:- Managing the commercial aspects of M&E projects from commencement through to completion
- Preparing and managing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts
- Cost reporting, forecasting and budget management
- Managing variations, valuations and change control
- Subcontract procurement and management
- Reviewing contracts and commercial documentation
- Managing commercial risks and identifying opportunities
- Working closely with Project Managers and Contracts Managers
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and reporting
- Supporting the successful commercial delivery of projects
- Building strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the M&E / Building Services sector
- A Mechanical or Electrical background
- Electrical experience preferred - Good understanding of M&E construction and installation projects
- Experience managing variations, valuations, subcontractors and final accounts
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Good communication and negotiation skills
- The ability to work independently while supporting the wider project team
- A professional approach and the confidence to deal with clients and supply chain partners
- A relevant Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Building Services qualification would be advantageous, but relevant industry experience will also be considered.
- Circa £65,000 salary, depending on experience
