Water Engineer, Environmental Engineer
As a Senior Urban Drainage Modeller, you'll take responsibility for the technical delivery of modelling activities across a range of wastewater and urban drainage projects. You'll work closely with project managers, technical specialists and clients to turn complex network data into clear and useful engineering solutions. You will:
- Deliver urban drainage and wastewater modelling studies across a variety of UK water projects.
- Develop, update, verify and maintain hydraulic models using Info Works ICM.
- Undertake modelling assessments relating to storm overflows, flooding, water quality and network performance.
- Interpret modelling results and contribute to the development and assessment of engineering solutions.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, presentations and project deliverables.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, modellers, environmental specialists and digital teams.
- Engage with clients and project stakeholders, contributing to meetings, workshops and technical discussions.
- Support and mentor developing modellers, sharing your technical knowledge and experience.
The modelling you deliver will help our clients better understand the performance of their wastewater networks and make informed decisions about future investment. Your work will contribute to practical solutions that improve water quality, reduce environmental impacts, manage flood risk and strengthen the resilience of communities across the South of England. You'll also have an important role in the continued development of our modelling capability.
By sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues and embracing new digital approaches, you'll help us improve how we deliver projects and respond to the changing demands of the water sector.
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng) or actively working towards
- Significant experience working in an urban drainage or wastewater modelling environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Info Works ICM or an equivalent hydraulic modelling package.
- Experience delivering technical modelling work and interpreting complex datasets and outputs.
- Good understanding of wastewater networks, urban drainage and relevant modelling principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing technical reports and presenting findings.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and manage your own technical workload.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution such as ICE or CIWEM.
- Experience working with UK water companies or within AMP programmes.
- Experience across storm overflow, water quality, flooding or wastewater network studies.
- Exposure to digital modelling, automation, data analytics or other emerging technologies.
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior modelling staff.

We are looking for a Senior Urban Drainage Modeller to join our Southern teams in Cambridge, Northampton, London, High Wycombe, Reading, Brighton or Southampton. You'll work alongside experienced modellers, engineers and environmental specialists on a varied portfolio of projects, gaining exposure to some of the most important water programmes across the region.
