Junior Electrical Shift Engineer

St Pancras, London | £42,000 | Continental Shifts | Overtime Available

Qualified electrician looking to take the next step? This could be the opportunity for you.

We’re looking for a qualified Electrical Engineer to join an established engineering team maintaining one of London’s busiest and most recognisable railway stations.

You don't need years of shift engineering experience. If you've got the electrical qualifications, a good attitude and the ambition to develop, this role offers the chance to step into a commercial building services environment, build your experience and gain further qualifications.

What's on offer?
  • £42,000 basic salary
  • Continental shift pattern with 8am–8pm days and nights
  • Plenty of overtime available
  • HV and LV training provided once you're onboard
  • Major project works starting in January
  • 20 days annual leave
  • Work as part of an established team of three engineers
  • Genuine opportunity to develop your skills and progress
The role:

You’ll be part of a three-person shift team responsible for electrical maintenance across a major London railway station.

Your duties will include:

  • Planned preventative maintenance and reactive electrical repairs
  • Fault finding and diagnosing electrical issues
  • Maintaining lighting, power and electrical distribution systems
  • Responding to breakdowns and maintenance requests
  • Supporting project works and electrical upgrades
  • Carrying out inspections and recording completed work
  • Working alongside experienced engineers to develop your technical skills

Important:
This is station building maintenance, not trackside or rail-side work.

The shift pattern:

You’ll work 12-hour shifts, covering both days and nights on a continental rota:

  • 3 days on, 3 nights on, 4 off
  • 4 days on, 6 off
  • 4 nights on, 4 off

The rota provides regular blocks of time off, with additional overtime available if you want to boost your earnings.

Who would suit this role?

We’re open to someone already working as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, but this is also a great opportunity for a qualified electrician who wants to move into shift engineering.

You’ll need:

  • Relevant electrical qualifications, such as an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • A good understanding of electrical systems
  • A willingness to learn and develop
  • A reliable, practical and proactive attitude
  • The ability to work well as part of a team

Previous experience in commercial maintenance or facilities management would be useful, but we’re happy to consider someone ready to make that next step.

HV/LV training will be provided, giving you the opportunity to build your knowledge and develop within the role.

If you’re qualified, motivated and looking for a role where you can learn from experienced engineers while earning £42,000 plus overtime, we'd like to hear from you!
