This is an exceptional opportunity for you to join a highly respected professional services firm in London as a Junior Compliance Officer. The organisation is renowned for its welcoming and supportive culture, where every team member is valued and encouraged to grow.
You will be part of a progressive environment that places great emphasis on inclusivity, diversity, and the development of practical expertise. With a hybrid working model offering both office-based collaboration and remote flexibility, you will enjoy a balanced approach to work-life integration. The role offers exposure to high-profile matters and complex legal issues, making it ideal for someone at the early stages of their compliance career who is eager to learn and contribute meaningfully within a knowledgeable team.
Whatyou'll do:
As a Junior Compliance Officer based in London, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Risk and Compliance Department’s mission to uphold rigorous standards across client onboarding activities. Your day-to-day responsibilities will centre around conducting due diligence checks, managing risk assessments, applying enhanced measures where needed, liaising closely with legal teams, updating key registers, responding to queries from colleagues across the business, and building positive relationships internally and externally.
- Carry out comprehensive client and matter onboarding processes in strict accordance with established Policies, Controls and Procedures (PCPs), ensuring all steps are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct thorough Client Due Diligence (CDD) checks, meticulously completing relevant sections of client and matter risk assessments using a risk-based approach to identify potential concerns.
- Identify higher-risk matters promptly and ensure Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) measures are applied appropriately to safeguard the organisation’s interests.
- Undertake detailed screening checks including conflicts, sanctions, Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), and adverse media, while supporting ongoing monitoring activities to maintain compliance standards.
- Liaise effectively with legal teams to obtain and review onboarding information, ensuring matters progress smoothly and in full compliance with internal requirements.
- Manage onboarding requests received through the shared inbox, responding professionally and escalating issues when necessary to maintain operational efficiency.
To excel as a Junior Compliance Officer in this London-based professional services firm, you will bring a combination of reliability, organisational skill, attention to detail, interpersonal sensitivity, discretion when handling confidential matters, collaborative spirit when working alongside colleagues from various departments, clear communication abilities both verbally and in writing, adaptability regarding new technologies or processes introduced by the team’s leadership group.
Your experience may include previous exposure to compliance or AML roles—though this is not mandatory—as well as familiarity with CDD/KYC procedures. A genuine motivation for developing your expertise further within risk management will set you apart as an ideal candidate for this role.
Robert Walters Operations Limited is an employment business and employment agency and welcomes applications from all candidates.
