Overview
This role provides daily operational support to Fixed Income Portfolio Managers and oversees Investment Index Data, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Investment Book of Records. The role requires deep fixed income market knowledge, expertise across multiple asset classes, and strong stakeholder management, including close collaboration with Portfolio Managers, Trading, Risk, and Middle Office teams. The analyst also leads complex fund launches, coaches junior specialists, and drives process improvements through technical skills such as Python, SQL, and Aladdin.
Responsibilities- Acting as the primary Fixed Income Service client contact by promptly addressing investment process questions and concerns, offering valuable insights and explanations.
- Collaborating with wider EIS (Middle Office) teams to gather information and execute actions required by the Desk, particularly with the Settlements Team to reduce trade failures and fostering robust interpersonal relationships.
- Contributing to fund launches and project‑related tasks, demonstrating strong project management abilities and governance standards.
- Analyzing portfolio activity to deliver value‑added insights to the Desk, especially regarding liquidity (investable cash), duration, and overall trading behaviors.
- Supporting the management of Investment and Index Data to guarantee accurate and timely data representation for the Fixed Income Investment Team.
- Keeping up with market or global events, considering their potential effects on the investment process and daily EIS operations, and discussing findings with colleagues.
- Partnering with Investment Risk and Operational Risk Teams to strengthen controls and enhance the control environment.
- Identifying, developing, and implementing process improvements to boost efficiency and effectiveness—for example, through automation, new coding, technological innovations, or collaborations.
- Becoming familiar with the Vanguard Management System as a method for ongoing improvement, focusing on time management, effective communication, incident root cause analysis, and continued learning.
- Participating in special projects and undertaking additional duties as assigned.
- Minimum of five years related work experience within Fund Operations or Investment Team‑facing role
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Accounting, Finance degree or CFA preferred
- Expertise in fixed income investment markets
- Experience with Aladdin Book of Records platform
- Asset classes including government and corporate bonds, reverse repos, cross‑currency swaps, IRS, futures, forwards
- Markets including UK, Europe, US and APAC markets (including restricted markets such as India, Thailand, Korea, Philippines, China)
- Strategies including both Active and Index investing:
Investment Grade, High Yield, Short‑term money market - Python, SQL
