Location: City Of London

I am currently recruiting on behalf of one of our Reinsurance clients for a Financial Assistant. You'll support finance operations including invoices, expenses, month-end journals and reconciliations, while maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with controls.

Please note, sponsorship is not available for this role and experience in Financial services ideally Insurance is mandatory.

Hybrid working role with a Salary of £35,000-£40,000.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately process supplier invoices and employee expense claims in accordance with company procedures, manage supplier queries, prepare payment runs, and ensure financial documentation is complete and audit-ready.
  • Record and reconcile premium income and dividend distributions, working closely with Underwriting, Customer teams, and external insurers to resolve discrepancies.
  • Oversee the daily cash position across the Group, distribute cash reporting, manage account transfers and subscriptions, and ensure all cash activity is recorded correctly.
  • Perform timely and accurate monthly reconciliations for bank accounts and corporate credit cards.
  • Assist in preparing quarterly and annual regulatory submissions.
  • Support external audit processes by providing documentation and responding promptly to information requests.
  • Contribute to broader finance activities as required, including payment processing, month-end journals, corporation tax support, inter company transactions, and investment-related fund movements, ensuring work is delivered accurately and within deadlines.
Skills & Experience
  • Strong team player with effective relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage workloads under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Clear and professional communication skills
  • High level of accuracy and strong organisational capability
  • Sound understanding of fundamental accounting and bookkeeping principles; studying towards (or intending to pursue) an accounting qualification is advantageous
  • Confident user of Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Business Central is beneficial
