US UK Private Client Tax Director – Central London

We are seeking a highly accomplished UK US Private Client Tax Director to lead our elite tax advisory practice within the personal tax sector. This pivotal role is central to delivering sophisticated, cross‑border tax solutions for high‑net‑worth individuals (HNWIs) with complex UK and US tax obligations. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in US taxation, private client advisory, and international tax compliance, with a proven track record of advising ultra‑high‑net‑worth clients on estate planning, gift tax, income tax, and compliance with IRS and HMRC regulations.

As a strategic leader, you will drive business development, mentor senior tax professionals, and ensure the delivery of compliant, innovative, and client‑centric tax strategies. Your leadership will be instrumental in strengthening our firm’s reputation as a market leader in international private client tax services.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the end‑to‑end delivery of complex UK and US cross‑border tax advisory services for HNWIs and ultra‑HNWIs.
  • Advise clients on US tax compliance, including FBAR, Form 8938, Form 3520, and Form 3520‑A, as well as UK tax implications of US residency and domicile.
  • Develop and implement strategic tax planning solutions for estate, gift, and inheritance tax, with a focus on minimizing exposure while ensuring compliance.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on international tax structuring—including trusts, foundations, and offshore entities.
  • Collaborate with legal, wealth management, and compliance teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Mentor and develop a team of senior tax professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
  • Drive business development initiatives, including client acquisition, relationship management, and thought leadership.
  • Ensure adherence to professional standards, regulatory requirements, and firm governance policies.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and client forums to enhance visibility and credibility.
Requirements
  • Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) qualification with full membership in the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT).
  • In‑depth knowledge of US federal income tax, estate and gift tax, and international tax compliance (including FATCA, CRS, and OECD BEPS initiatives).
  • Proven experience advising private clients and HNWIs on UK‑US cross‑border tax matters.
  • Demonstrable track record in developing and executing complex tax planning strategies for international clients.
  • Strong understanding of UK inheritance tax, capital gains tax, and trust taxation in a cross‑border context.
  • Exceptional client management and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly to non‑experts.
  • Experience leading teams or managing client portfolios of significant value.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and commitment to professional standards.
  • Ability to work autonomously and thrive in a fast‑paced, client‑driven environment.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary with performance‑related bonus.
  • Hybrid and flexible working options.
  • Exposure to complex international and cross‑border client work.
  • Collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Ongoing training and professional development.
  • Study support for further qualifications where relevant.
  • Private medical insurance.
  • Generous holiday allowance plus bank holidays.
  • Pension scheme.
  • Regular team events and a positive working culture.
  • Opportunity to work with high net‑worth and internationally mobile clients.
