Quant Researcher - Systematic

Man Group is a global alternative investment management firm focused on pursuing out performance for sophisticated clients via systematic and discretionary strategies. Our Total Returns team manages a $14bn Target Risk fund and related strategies, leveraging 40 years of AHL experience in systematic futures trading and risk management.

We are seeking a quantitative researcher to work on existing products and assist in developing future strategies.

• Research, develop, and implement investment and portfolio construction concepts to improve portfolio outcomes.
• Contribute to the design and development of new total return strategies.
• Assist in managing the team’s strategies in collaboration with Trading, Operations, and Technology.
• Be an expert in our systems and understand the process for translating investment concepts to trades.
• Follow markets and their impact on the trading models; propose appropriate diagnostics and feedback observations.
• Follow industry/academic literature and suggest how strategies can profit from new ideas.

• 2+ years of experience in a quantitative research role.
• Strong academic record; a degree with significant mathematical, statistical, and computing content (e.g., Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Physics).
• Knowledge of the structure and drivers of returns in financial markets and an interest in algorithmic trading and financial derivatives.
• Ability to create systematic investment strategies, executing a full research pipeline from idea generation to portfolio construction using Python.
• Awareness of statistical and mathematical tools and the ability to choose appropriate methods.
• Exceptional attention to detail, logical reasoning, and self‑motivation.
• Ability to write clear, concise, and informative technical reports and proposals.
