Senior Portfolio Manager – Financial Services 12 Month FTC | £95,000–£100,000 + Benefits | Central London (2–3 Days Hybrid)

I'm working with a banking client who are looking to hire a Senior Portfolio Manager into their Technology and Transformation function on an initial 12-month FTC basis.

This role sits at the heart of the bank’s transformation agenda and will focus on overseeing a complex portfolio of change initiatives across the business – driving prioritisation, benefits realisation, portfolio governance, executive reporting and strategic delivery oversight.

The environment itself is genuinely collaborative, visible and adult in its approach. It’s a smaller, well-respected financial services organisation where senior stakeholders are accessible, decisions get made quickly and the change function has real influence across the business.

The role would suit someone who enjoys operating at portfolio level, but who is still pragmatic and hands‑on enough to help shape delivery, challenge priorities and drive outcomes rather than purely govern from a distance.

Key areas of focus:
  • Driving and overseeing a complex portfolio of transformation initiatives (at enterprise level)
  • Benefits realisation, KPI tracking and portfolio prioritisation
  • Executive, Board and Steering Committee reporting
  • Portfolio governance, budgeting and investment oversight
  • Managing risks, dependencies and cross-programme delivery challenges
  • Supporting strategic decision making across change initiatives
  • Embedding strong PMO and governance disciplines across the portfolio
  • Driving operational readiness and successful embedding into BAU
The sort of background likely to fit:
  • Strong Portfolio / Programme Management experience within Financial Services or Banking
  • Experience leading complex enterprise change portfolios
  • Strong benefits realisation and KPI-led delivery experience
  • Comfortable operating with C-Level and senior leadership stakeholders
  • Strong governance, prioritisation and executive reporting capability
  • Experience with in regulated environments
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to balance strategy, delivery and operational impact
