Job Summary

This apprenticeship role supports the Head of FP&A with monthly reporting, strategic planning, financial data management, and continuous improvement of Workday Adaptive Planning and related reporting tools. It also includes working across finance teams, handling ad hoc requests and projects, and progressing toward professional accounting qualifications.

Key Work Outputs and Accountabilities
  • Assist the Head of FP&A in the various elements of the financial planning and analysis processes.
  • Assist in monthly processing to load financial data to Workday Adaptive.
  • Use Workday Adaptive Planning to support the running of monthly MI for the business and key stakeholders.
  • Clean up and improve Office Connect linked Excel files used for monthly reporting (Office Connect being an Excel add‑in to automate reporting from Workday Adaptive Planning).
  • Assist in the planning for the strategic Plan process.
  • Assist the Head of FP&A to build the Strategic Plan across the business, liaise with business stakeholders through the process, and design presentational material for senior management forums.
  • Handle ad hoc requests received from multiple areas of the Bank.
  • Assist in the refresh of cost allocation drivers used in key metric calculations.
  • Spend time with other areas of Finance including Regulatory reporting, Financial Control and Finance systems to build a holistic view of finance and how FP&A interact and work with all finance areas.
  • Contribute to projects and initiatives as required.
  • Pick up additional ad hoc activities as directed.
  • Develop a high level of proficiency in the use of Workday Adaptive Planning and support the FP&A head in its future development.
  • Complete professional accounting exams within realistic time frames.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • A keen interest in Financial Planning and Analysis, and data.
  • Strong organisational skills with great attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills/thinking towards financial data to spot trends, anomalies and patterns.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • A proactive and positive approach with a willingness to learn.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above).
  • No prior banking experience required; any administration or customer service experience is beneficial.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
