Location: City of Westminster

Ares’ Alternative Credit strategy focuses on investing in businesses and assets that generate contractual cash flows and fills gaps in the capital markets between credit, private equity and real assets. The Alternative Credit Group in London focuses on CLO debt and equity securities.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate new, potential CLO investments (including debt and equity tranches) including assessment of structure and legal documentation, assessment of the collateral portfolio, assessment of the CLO manager, and application of qualitative and quantitative methods, including data analysis and scenario analysis, to assess relative risk and value.
  • Prepare and present investment recommendations that articulate the investment thesis, relevant risks, and demonstrate excellent judgment.
  • Monitor an assigned portfolio of existing investments to assess performance and identify developing risks or trends.
  • Periodically meet with CLO managers to discuss individual credits, trading activity, credit risk, performance, and potential new business.
  • Share assessment findings with team members.
  • Collaborate closely with credit research professionals to assess specific credit risks.
  • Participate in client meetings and represent Ares and the team professionally.
  • Contribute to team projects to strengthen the investment process.
Qualifications
  • Higher level undergraduate degree required.
  • Four to seven years of direct experience with CLOs.
  • Self‑motivated and driven, able to work effectively in a collegial, fast‑moving, demanding, and dynamic environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to articulate clear, concise analysis of investment risk and relative value.
  • Evidence of intellectual curiosity, creative problem‑solving skills, and adaptability.
  • A desire to learn new skills and technologies particular to the team’s investment platform.
  • European language abilities considered a plus.
