The Chief Risk Office oversees all credit, market, operational, enterprise and liquidity risks. In this role you will join the Valuation Control (VC) team, a centralised function responsible for the independent valuation of fair value/trading positions for Deutsche Bank. You will oversee Commodities‑Energy trading valuation control and governance processes and support the new Business, Independent Price Verification and Prudent Valuation process performed by the global team.
Key Responsibilities- Review daily and monthly Independent Price Verification, Prudential Value, Fair Value Reserves and Levelling results.
- Recommend approvals for new trades, Day‑1 revenue recognition decisions, and run quarterly Fair Value Levelling and Prudent Valuation processes.
- Enhance and develop optimal fair value and prudential valuation methodologies consistent with regulatory technical standards.
- Define modeling requirements for illiquid products, assess model pricing limitations, key valuation risks and uncertainties, and manage them appropriately.
- Develop productive relationships with the business, external stakeholders (Audit, Regulators, Data providers) and internal stakeholders (MRM) to ensure valuation risk processes are appropriate and optimally designed.
- Collaborate across the bank, including Front Office and wider MVRM teams; engage with senior traders, and oversee implementation of all valuation control aspects including IPV, reserves, IFRS Levelling, Pru Val, etc.
- Knowledge of valuation aspects of Commodities‑Energy products.
- Understanding of accounting and prudent valuation requirements, best practice, and market developments.
- Accounting and/or risk‑management qualification: ACA, ACCA, CFA, FRM and/or MSc in Finance or Economics related degree or equivalent experience.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with team members, peers and senior stakeholders.
