  • Prepare and present high-quality credit papers to senior decision-making forums.
  • Approve credit applications within delegated authority where appropriate.
  • Review internal credit ratings using financial analysis, peer comparisons and appropriate due diligence.
  • Monitor portfolio quality, concentrations, limits and emerging risks, escalating concerns when required.
  • Identify early warning indicators and recommend appropriate risk-mitigation actions.
  • Ensure transactions meet required prudential standards and are supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Support the development and implementation of credit policies, procedures and portfolio strategies.
  • Contribute to IFRS 9 assessments and periodic portfolio reviews.
  • Work closely with relationship management, business, risk, legal, compliance and audit stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior colleagues, including assisting with work allocation and quality assurance.
  • Support regulatory requests, audits, strategic initiatives and other credit-related projects.

Experience Required

  • Significant experience within corporate and/or financial institution credit risk, ideally gained within banking or another regulated financial services environment.
  • Strong experience assessing complex lending or financing arrangements. Exposure could include corporate lending, trade finance, structured finance, asset-backed lending or real estate-related transactions.
  • Demonstrable experience producing and presenting detailed credit papers and recommendations.
  • Strong financial analysis and financial modelling capabilities.
  • Good understanding of internal credit-rating methodologies, portfolio monitoring and early warning indicators.
  • Knowledge of IFRS 9 and broader credit risk management requirements.
  • Experience assessing international or cross-border counter parties would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience providing guidance, oversight or support to more junior team members would be beneficial.

Qualifications

  • Degree-level education in finance, economics, business or a related discipline.
  • A relevant professional or postgraduate qualification, such as CFA, FRM, MBA or MSc, would be advantageous.

Personal Attributes

  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident making sound, independent decisions in a high-pressure environment.
  • Clear and credible written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to challenge constructively while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Commercially aware, pragmatic and comfortable balancing risk with business objectives.
  • Highly organised and able to manage competing deadlines.
  • Collaborative, adaptable and comfortable working across different teams and cultures.
