The Corporate Banking Associate is an intermediate level professional responsible for leading the planning of investment strategies and solutions for major market clients in coordination with the Institutional Banking team. The overall objective of this role is to support in the origination and execution efforts of the UK FIG team, while efficiently deploying the firm's capital and evaluating and managing risk.
- Partner with Senior Bankers to provide overall relationship management support
- Support Bankers in cross-selling full spectrum of products and services by identifying customer needs to generate revenue
- Support Bankers on Global FIG initiatives to deliver leading content
- Assist with day to day cash management activities, trading initiatives, vendor finance, foreign exchange, loan activity, debt capital markets efforts and interest rate/equity derivatives
- Responsible for evaluating public filings, research reports, operations, business plans, and financial forecasts to produce strategic and financial analyses
- Responsible for staying abreast of FIG market and industry trends, "best practices" and competitive landscape
The associate will develop (i) in-depth understanding of the dynamics of each sub-sector, (ii) an understanding of clients' priorities with the aim of identifying appropriate marketing opportunities and (iii) strong relationships internally with key product, risk and regional partners.
Under the Certification Regime, Citi UK regulated entities (Citi entities) must ensure that employees working in certain roles categorised as specified significant harm functions (Certified Roles) are assessed as fit and proper to carry out their role. Under the guidance provided by the FCA and PRA, firms should have regard to the following when assessing fitness and propriety:
- Honesty, integrity and reputation
- Financial soundness
- Competence and capability
In order to comply with the requirements of the Certification Regime, Citi entities must take reasonable care to ensure that an employee does not perform a Certified Role without first being certified as Fit and Proper. For this reason, you will be assessed for this role against the Fit and Proper requirements, as described above. This assessment will be carried out through extensive interviews, self-disclosures, permitted criminal record checks, regulated reference checks, credit checks and other background screening checks.
- Experience in a FIG or Corporate Banking related area
- Strong credit skills, credit background and knowledge of Citi's credit policies and product suite
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, notably Excel and Power Point
- FCA certification is a plus
- Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience, MBA or Master's Degree in Business is a plus
