An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Housing Allocations Officer to join a Local Authority in Ealing Housing Demand Team. This role focuses on managing housing register applications, assessing eligibility, supporting residents with housing needs, and helping vulnerable households access suitable housing solutions.
Working within a busy local authority environment, you will play a key role in delivering fair and effective housing services while ensuring compliance with housing legislation and the Council's Allocations Scheme.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and manage housing register applications and determine eligibility.
- Award appropriate priority under the Council's Allocations Scheme.
- Provide accurate housing advice and guidance to residents regarding rehousing options.
- Support residents who may be at risk of homelessness and identify suitable housing solutions.
- Manage a varied caseload, ensuring cases are progressed efficiently and effectively.
- Investigate applications and verify information to prevent fraud and ensure compliance.
- Respond to enquiries, challenges, complaints and correspondence in line with legislation and policy.
- Work closely with internal teams, Registered Providers, landlords, and external agencies to achieve positive outcomes for residents.
- Experience in housing allocations, housing registers, or a local authority housing service.
- Strong knowledge of housing legislation, allocations policies, and case assessment processes.
- Experience managing housing applications and assessing eligibility.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and caseload management skills, particularly when supporting vulnerable residents.
- Knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 (Part VI) and housing allocation processes.
- The ability to explain complex housing matters clearly and professionally to residents and stakeholders.
