Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to perform and continue to develop the excellent standards of audiology care within the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. The appointment will involve delivering specialist paediatric audiology services, including diagnostic assessments and hearing aid fitting.
Responsibilities- Perform diagnostic hearing assessment on children aged 6 months to 25 years, analysing results in line with national and local protocols. This includes Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA), Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA), performance testing, speech testing, otoscopy, tests of middle ear function using tympanometry and Diagnostic Otoacoustic Emissions.
- Identify when further investigations are necessary and make appropriate referrals in a timely manner.
- Adapt techniques to suit the individual patient's needs; create individual rehabilitation plans while maintaining a flexible, responsive attitude.
- Work as an independent practitioner, delivering direct clinical services to patients without supervision.
- Verify and validate hearing aid prescriptions for paediatric patients using real ear and coupler measurements.
- Provide training in-house and to external groups (including STP trainees), and supervise junior staff when required.
- Actively participate in audit and quality assessment tools; promote the wellbeing and safety of all patients and carers by communicating promptly and effectively.
- Maintain good rapport with patients of all ages, securing cooperation in clinics and encouraging self‑management at home.
- Experience in the management of complex and non‑routine case loads in specialised paediatric audiology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of supporting the service in delivering high‑quality patient care.
- Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team and to supervise junior staff.
