Specialist Children's Occupational Therapist

Overview

The post holder will be the lead Occupational Therapist for the Looked After Children's Team (Virtual School) at Hackney Education. The role as lead OT for LAC will involve ensuring that best practice and evidence-based practice assessment and interventions are implemented within the service and that OT input into the Virtual School for Looked After Children is overseen. The post holder will take the lead on Children In Care and Care Leavers, including intervention with individual children, setting up groups and providing specialist advice to key workers within the team and social care, and will provide assessment and short‑term direct intervention for Hackney Children In Care between the ages of 0‑25 regarding difficulties or challenges within educational or workplace settings.

• Implement best practice and evidence‑based practice assessment and interventions within the service.
• Oversee OT input into the Virtual School for Looked After Children.
• Take the lead on Children In Care and Care Leavers, including intervention with individual children, setting up groups and providing specialist advice to key workers and social care.
• Provide assessment and short‑term direct intervention for Hackney Children In Care between the ages of 0‑25 regarding difficulties or challenges within educational or workplace settings.
• Drive service development and evidence‑based practice within an integrated health and social care team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative Occupational Therapist with experience of working with children in a community, inpatient or CAMHS setting to join our dynamic Occupational Therapy team based at the Hackney Ark. The post holder will be supported to pursue a specialism within our integrated health and social care team.
