What is the role about?The Dietician will lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of wellbeing programmes, ensuring clinical quality and compliance with national governance standards. They will provide oversight for key initiatives such as NHS Diabetes Prevention, Type 2 Diabetes Remission, and obesity prescribing, while also supporting a broader range of digital and face‑to‑face health interventions including weight management, NHS health checks, smoking cessation, and physical activity.
The role involves collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver safe, effective, and evidence-based services that reduce health inequalities.
- Leading on development, implementation and evaluation of NHS Healthier You programmes, both face to face and digital.
- Development of programme content, pilot evaluation and ongoing programme evaluation.
- Leading on the needs assessment, prioritisation, planning, development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of programmes of work.
- Supporting the delivery of new and existing quality improvement projects to ensure continuous improvement across the portfolio of healthcare improvement programmes.
- Analysing and evaluating complex health data and effectiveness of health programmes and initiatives, identifying and assessing alternative approaches as necessary.
- Preparation and communication of reports and presentations on complex and sensitive issues to a range of audiences, including health and non‑health professionals.
- Contribute to operational and strategic planning by continually reviewing and updating action plans, taking account of local and national policy, guidance and insights about emerging and unmet need in healthcare improvement.
- Act as a point of support and clinical representation for both internal and external stakeholders, supporting the high‑quality delivery and compelling promotion of our work. This includes reporting and acting on opportunities for collaboration.
- Maintain continuous professional development including a robust understanding of topics relevant to service delivery, awareness of service developments, new and emerging research and attendance at public health working groups, conferences and national updates.
- Contribute to staff management and development by performing clinical observations and development where required.
- Delivering ongoing training to ensure continuous professional development opportunities for staff members.
- Lead clinical maintenance of pilots, services, and products by delivering the clinical audit and product evaluation cycle processes. In response to results, lead and drive the delivery of excellent standards of care within all clinical areas, driving a culture of safety, clinical effectiveness and continuous improvement.
- Proactively manage, resolve, and mitigate clinical incidents and adverse effects, demonstrating leadership in the resolution of these issues and in the implementation of new/updated protocol.
