Overview
We are looking for cross sectional experienced HCPC registered Radiographer to join the MRI team at the Royal London Hospital. This post will give you the opportunity to build on your clinical expertise in MRI. Encouragement will be given to staff who wish to pursue post graduate studies in MRI.
Department and EquipmentThe Royal London Hospital MRI Department is equipped with two Siemens 1.5T scanners (brand new Sola and Avanto Fit) and one Siemens brand new 3T Vida scanner. Our new scanners utilise the latest Dot Engine software, making them user friendly. In 2024, we benefited from government funded AI acceleration software to improve examination times, efficiency and patient experience.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate post graduate experience in cross-sectional imaging.
- Involved in the training of rotational radiographers in MRI.
- Review and implement new scanning protocols in conjunction with the MRI Lead radiographer, MRI superintendent radiographer, MRI clinical specialist, Radiologists and ensure all staff are aware of new studies/procedures.
- Work full time on AFC long days rostered across 7 days Monday-Sunday 08:00-20:00; participate in the MRI 24 hours emergency rota which runs 365 days/year.
- Aim to provide high quality, effective imaging services for the MRI department at Royal London Hospital.
- Work closely with radiographers, students and clinical staff of all grades in the safe, prompt and effective imaging of inpatients and outpatients.
- Support the handling of complex imaging cases with attention to patient safety and comfort in the MRI environment.
- MRI is a complex modality requiring a high degree of technical understanding to obtain diagnostic image quality across diverse patient presentations.
- Assist patients to cope with claustrophobic environments and consider patients who may be unconscious, un-cooperative, incapacitated, or with physical and mental disabilities.
- Provide empathy and support to vulnerable patients and those who are bereaved, terminally ill, injured or traumatised.
The routine working hours are 08:00-20:00, Monday-Sunday, excluding bank holidays. The unit is moving towards a full long days service including weekends. The post holder is expected to participate in the 24hrs, 7days/week, 365 days a year MRI emergency service, paid via AFC out of hours pay rates and operated on a rota system. Some bank holidays may be required.
