We have very strong nursing leadership and can offer support from our substantial senior team, which includes our ED Matrons who provide a clinical support rota as well as Emergency Nurse Practitioners (ENPs) and senior clinical nurse leaders who provide support on a shift‑by‑shift basis. We also have a dedicated and innovative practice development nurse, devoted purely to the development of the team of nurses and ED Assistants.
Key Responsibilities- Rotate through the department, including the Urgent Treatment Centre, Majors, the fast‑paced assessment area and mental health settings.
- Assist in patient assessment and support clinical care under the supervision of ENPs and senior nurses.
- Develop skills in minor injury, plastering, cannulation and wound care as part of a structured training plan.
- Work nights and weekends on a four‑week rota basis.
We are looking for dedicated, compassionate and dynamic healthcare assistants with acute hospital experience. Emergency Department experience is not essential; training will be provided to develop specialist techniques.
Working HoursFull‑time, 37.5 hours per week with rotating nights and weekends on a four‑week rota. Flexible working will be considered as part of the trust values.
Diversity and InclusionWhittington Health serves a richly diverse population and works hard to ensure that all our services are fair and equally accessible to everyone. We aim to employ a workforce which is as representative as possible of this population, so we are open to the value of differences in age, disability, gender, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, race, sexual orientation and religion or belief.
The Trust believes that as a public sector organisation we have an obligation to have recruitment, training, promotion and other formal employment policies and procedures that are sensitive to these differences. We think that by doing so, we are better able to treat our patients as well as being a better place to work.
