Our General Practitioners are extremely valued and respected members of the Prison Healthcare community. As a GP, your responsibilities will vary, but you will play a crucial role in delivering high‑quality care in a secure environment.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver first‑class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, further developing your knowledge beyond typical practice or A&E environments.
  • Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis, making timely decisions regarding future management.
  • Act as a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team on site and actively contribute to clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Requirements
  • MBChB or MBBS
  • Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
  • Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
  • Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
  • RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 & 2, or willingness to undertake these qualifications
