Main duties and responsibilities:
* As an Occupational Therapist, you will be expected to carry out all relevant forms of care in partnership with clients, carers and other professionals in line with agreed standards, clinical polices and without direct supervision, for those clients who have been diagnosed with an eating disorder.
* In addition to this you will be expected to be closely involved in discharge planning and immediate follow up from the service user care.
* Our Occupational Therapists are expected to manage clients using evidence based and client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, which provide clients with the confidence, skills and coping strategies required for independent living.
* They will be accountable to the Head of OT for the management of their workload and the delegated functions to other team members ensuring that the right level of competency of their team members is matched to duties being undertaken.
* You will practice within and ensure that the practice of junior team members is within legal and ethical frameworks according to appropriate codes of professional conduct, mental health legislation and contractual obligations.
* Within your role as Occupational Therapist, you will be expected to interface between Community Mental Health Teams, In-Patient services and other Mental Health Network services and agencies.
* The post holder will be expected to have significant knowledge and interest in working with people who have been diagnosed with an eating disorder, and competent to support their physiological and psychological needs as they arise.
Desired skills and expertise:
* Holds a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy together with a full BVAOT membership and HPC registration.
* Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
* Previous experience working with eating disorders.
* Experience working with both adults (16+), and children/adolescents (CAMHS).
* Previous post registration experience of working with clients who have had an eating disorder or other mental health condition.
* Experience of group interventions.
* Experience in supervising junior staff which may include qualified staff.
* Highly developed communication and negotiation staff.
* Ability to work without direct supervision.
* Maintains a professional portfolio for CPD recording learning outcomes through participation in internal and external development opportunities.
* Demonstrates the ability to critically evaluate current research and apply to practice.
* Review and reflect on own practice and performance through effective use of professional and operational supervision and appraisal.
* Identity own learning needs and highlight with supervisor and clinical manager.
