Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic Specialist Anatomical Pathology Technician with fantastic communication skills and a proactive approach to join our team in Mortuary Services. The successful applicant will be expected to fulfil the requirements of the role as outlined in the attached job description.
Role OverviewThe post-holder is responsible for assisting in the provision of the Mortuary Service Trust wide; there are three mortuaries within the Trust, Charing Cross, Hammersmith and St Mary's.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in providing mortuary services across the Trust, covering three mortuaries.
- Work in challenging, emotionally distressing situations while maintaining concentration for long periods.
- Organise and prioritise tasks with meticulous attention to detail.
- Work independently and in a small team, ensuring the deceased and their relatives are treated with dignity and respect.
- Perform a broad range of technical work activities in accordance with Trust, Coroner's and Department of Health regulations.
- Take charge at a mortuary site in the absence of the Mortuary Manager following initial training.
- Provide a compassionate and customer‑focused, high‑quality mortuary service in conformance with relevant legislation, code of practice and guidance to the Crown Office, local authorities, private organisations and individuals including bereaved relatives.
- Good mortuary experience; ability to handle intense physical activity and maintain concentration during long periods.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proactive, enthusiastic, motivated, and dynamic.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
- Experience as a Specialist Anatomical Pathology Technician or equivalent.
