An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced Band 7 Metabolic Day Ward Manager to lead our busy and dynamic Day Ward and Outpatient service. This role is ideal for a confident clinical leader who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is passionate about delivering high quality, patient‑centred care.

the Service

Day Ward

  • Specialises in metabolic and endocrine investigations
  • Supports referrals from multiple medical specialties
  • Provides complex testing and monitoring within a day case setting

Outpatient Clinics

  • Growth hormone services
  • Thyroid care
  • Osteoporosis services
  • Diabetic services (including foot care and sexual health)
  • Hepatology
  • Endocrine and metabolic clinics
Responsibilities
  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership and line management for a team of healthcare assistants and nursing staff.
  • Oversee patient flow, capacity management, and clinic coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical governance, infection control, and health & safety standards.
  • Lead on staff development, appraisal, rostering, and workforce planning.
  • Act as a key point of contact for medical staff, allied health professionals, and wider MDT colleagues.
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives, audits, and policy development.
  • Maintain a strong focus on patient experience and safety.
Qualifications
  • Proven leadership and management experience within an NHS clinical setting.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and decision‑making skills.
  • Experience managing day‑case units, outpatient services, or complex clinical pathways.
  • Ability to work autonomously while fostering effective multidisciplinary teamwork.
  • A flexible, resilient, and solution‑focused approach to service delivery.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and staff development.
