Overview
The post-holder will join the ambulatory gynaecology and early pregnancy team, supporting the department's strategic transition towards a predominantly ambulatory model of gynaecological care. The service delivers rapid‑access, patient‑centred pathways designed to avoid unnecessary admission, streamline diagnosis and provide definitive management at first attendance wherever possible. The department has a strong ethos of innovation, efficiency and multidisciplinary collaboration and continues to expand its one‑stop diagnostic and treatment pathways across acute and elective gynaecology.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will play a central role in the delivery and development of ambulatory services, working across the Elizabeth Suite (early pregnancy and acute gynaecology), the Ambulatory Gynaecology Suite (outpatient hysteroscopy and minor procedures), one‑stop benign gynaecology scan clinics and Urgent Suspected Cancer (USC/2WW) scan clinics. The expectation is that the appointee will work closely with consultant colleagues, specialist nurses and sonographers to deliver timely assessment, investigation and treatment in a single visit wherever feasible.
The post-holder will be expected to deliver exceptional patient care within the department and provide a high‑quality service in conjunction with consultant colleagues, residents and advanced clinical practitioners. The successful candidate will maintain continuous responsibility for patients under their care, ensuring safe decision‑making and appropriate escalation within acute gynaecology and early pregnancy pathways.
