AboutThe Role
The Technical Innovation and Development Division focuses on software development, automation, and research to support the wider company with using technology to improve client project delivery. They also aim to increase the efficiency of internal processes by developing solutions. Therefore, the Technical Assistant role is cross‑functional and will involve supporting the software development team with bug testing, developing guidance documents, and assisting the wider company with finding and developing technical solutions to problems they or their clients face.
Key Responsibilities Will Include Technical Innovation- Proactively proposing ways to streamline processes (in and outside of the division) and subsequently implementing them
- Advising colleagues on best practices and efficient ways of using third‑party software and internally developed applications
- Researching and helping to trial new software and tools
- Assisting with the development of reports and dashboards, for example using Microsoft Excel and Power
BI in conjunction with Application Programme Interface (AIP) or other data sources - Development of scripts for basic automation, e.g., Visual Basic macros and Python scripts
- Completing support tasks for software development projects, including researching competitors
- Conducting end‑to‑end testing of internally developed applications and tools
- Drafting presentations and other documents, including user guides and training materials for software and tools
Due to the varied and evolving nature of divisional and company need, applicants should be proactive with a willingness to learn and contribute innovative ideas towards the development of our service offerings. Prior knowledge of programming or query languages is not required but applicants should have a keen interest in software and be motivated to explore the use of software and related tools.
Undertaking self‑directed research to continually learn relevant skills will be required. This role requires a problem‑solving mindset and eagerness to work both independently and collaboratively to find solutions. Excellent customer service alongside an enthusiasm for technology and high‑quality deliverables is a must.

- Excellent proficiency in written English and arithmetic
- Fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
Our recruitment process includes a telephone interview with a member of the Talent Acquisition team, followed by a technical assessment for you to complete remotely. If successful, you will be invited to an interview which will include a chance for you to review your assessment with members of our Technical Innovation and Development team. This will be followed by a competency‑based interview.
Our standard recruitment process lasts around 1 month however, this is adapted if necessary.
We are currently recruiting for start dates throughout 2022, including July and September. Additional start dates may also be available and you will be asked to state your availability on your application form.
What We OfferThe starting salary for the role is £30,000. Salary increases are typically awarded after 6 and 12 months and again on promotion, which can be achieved in as little as 12‑18 months. Please to learn about our reward package and the other benefits of working for Costello Medical.
