Senior Technical Programme Manager - SAP Finance Integration & Migration

About

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Programme Manager to drive the delivery of critical SAP Finance integration and migration initiatives for a major UK retail organization. This is a high-impact role responsible for orchestrating complex, multi-workstream programmes across SAP Finance landscapes, ensuring successful delivery of system integrations, data migrations, and technical transformations. You will lead cross-functional technical teams, manage vendor relationships, and ensure seamless execution from planning through to hypercare, while maintaining strong governance and stakeholder engagement throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities Programme Delivery Leadership
  • Deliver large-scale SAP Finance programmes end-to-end, managing multiple concurrent work streams
  • Drive execution through technical teams ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery
  • Establish clear delivery milestones, dependencies, and critical path management
  • Deliver measurable business outcomes aligned to strategic objectives
  • Lead programme planning, resource allocation, and budget management
Integration & Migration Execution
  • Manage SAP integration deliveries including APIs, middleware, and IDocs
  • Oversee data migration cutover activities, ensuring data quality and integrity
  • Coordinate testing activities including UAT, integration testing, and regression testing
  • Lead defect management processes and resolution tracking
  • Execute go-live activities with robust rollback and contingency planning
  • Deliver hypercare support ensuring smooth transition to BAU operations
Governance & Controls
  • Establish and maintain programme governance frameworks and reporting structures
  • Manage RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) logs with proactive mitigation
  • Provide clear status reporting to senior stakeholders and programme boards
  • Implement quality assurance processes ensuring delivery excellence
  • Maintain change control mechanisms and compliance standards
  • Track programme health metrics and delivery KPIs
Agile Delivery & Problem Resolution
  • Apply agile/hybrid delivery methodologies appropriate to programme context
  • Lead sprint planning, tracking, and retrospectives
  • Drive rapid issue escalation and resolution
  • Navigate technical blockers and organisational change
  • Maintain delivery momentum through challenges
  • Implement continuous improvement practices
Essential Skills & Experience Programme Management Excellence
  • Proven track record delivering large-scale SAP Finance programmes end-to-end
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent work streams and technical delivery teams
  • Strong capability in programme planning, tracking, and governance
  • Demonstrable success delivering on-time, on-budget with measurable outcomes
  • Experience in retail, FMCG, or consumer goods sectors highly advantageous
SAP Finance & Integration Expertise
  • Hands-on experience with SAP Finance integration (APIs, middleware, IDocs, interfaces)
  • Strong understanding of SAP Finance modules (FI, CO, or related)
  • Experience managing data migration activities including cutover planning
  • Knowledge of SAP S/4

    HANA transformations or migrations desirable
  • Understanding of SAP architecture and technical landscapes
Delivery & Testing
  • Experience coordinating testing strategies (UAT, integration, regression, performance)
  • Strong defect management and resolution tracking capabilities
  • Proven ability managing go-live activities and hypercare support
  • Experience with rollback and contingency planning
  • Understanding of cutover runbooks and execution
Governance & Methodology
  • Expertise in programme governance frameworks and controls
  • Strong RAID management and risk mitigation capabilities
  • Experience with agile and hybrid delivery methodologies
  • Knowledge of change management and organizational transformation
  • Proficiency with programme management tools (JIRA, Azure Dev Ops, MS Project, etc.)
Stakeholder Management
  • Exceptional communication skills with senior stakeholders and executives
  • Experience managing vendor and system integrator relationships
  • Ability to translate technical complexity into business language
  • Strong facilitation and decision-making forum leadership
  • Proven ability building consensus across diverse stakeholder groups
