Platform Engineer

London or Leeds, UK (Weekly 3 days onsite) - Permanent role.

Active SC clearance required.

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable platform solutions, including monitoring, managing, and optimizing cloud-based (AWS) resources.
• Feed engineering insight into the wider Strategy and Architecture team to identify opportunities to improve engineering across the organization.
• Document all procedures and policies for maintaining and improving system infrastructure.
• Implement automation tools and frameworks (CI/CD pipelines) for efficient and secure deployment and operations, while working with development teams to facilitate deployment and operation of systems.

Minimum

• Senior Platform Engineer experience with solid understanding of software engineering principles and their application.
• Experience with scripting and pipeline automation (e.g., Jenkins, Git Hub Actions).
• Strong understanding of cloud services (AWS) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Cloud Formation or Terraform.
• Experience working closely with development and infrastructure teams to quickly understand requirements and implement solutions.
• Ability to leverage automation to improve development processes and optimize software delivery.
• Ability to cooperate closely with engineers and product teams — including designers, product managers, and analysts.
• Hands-on Cloud Formation scripting, troubleshooting, and debugging.
• Experience with Chef scripting and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Python scripting and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Jenkins pipelines (multibranch), deployments, Groovy scripting.
• Experience with Linux commands and knowledge of troubleshooting web services.
• Experience with AWS services - EC2, NLB, API Gateway, ASG.
