The System Architect aligns Feature teams to the Architecture roadmap, ensures the systems under development support evolving business needs and enable fast, reliable implementation of value.

As a core role, the System Architect collaborates with the Release Train Engineer (RTE) and Product Managers to design and develop the architecture and create the Architecture Runway in line with Enterprise standards, patterns and roadmaps. The role involves technical leadership with the expectation that the successful candidate will assist in developing skills within teams and nurturing existing talent. This includes providing expertise on engineering and architecture best practices relating to platforms and user interface delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Define and communicate the architecture vision, translating it into Epics, Features, and Stories.
  • Ensure solutions align with business priorities, enterprise architecture, and evolving business needs.
  • Support Dev Ops practices and the continuous delivery pipeline; contribute to release governance.
  • Promote built-in quality, defining and managing non-functional requirements (NFRs).
  • Collaborate with teams to evolve design, validate implementation, and drive sustainable practices.
  • Maintain architecture documentation, system tools, and technical assets.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Analysis, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in technical architecture and IT solution development (front-end, back-end, or middleware).
  • Track record of designing and delivering modern architectures with strong grasp of architectural principles.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and understanding of the product lifecycle.
  • Exposure to multiple technologies and enterprise-scale environments.
  • Strong technical leadership, with the ability to mentor and influence teams.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Hands-on enterprise systems development experience (C#, Java, JavaScript/Type Script, C++ or similar).
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS preferred; Azure/GCP), containerisation, and microservices.
  • Strong knowledge of APIs, system integration, and Dev Ops (CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, Git).
  • Understanding of security practices (application, cloud, authentication, authorisation).
  • Experience with front-office/trader-facing applications and services.
  • Exposure to Inter-Dealer Broking environments.
  • Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
  • Familiarity with micro-frontend architecture.
  • Experience optimising financial services technology solutions.
