Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: City Of London

We are recruiting for a Data Architect to join our IT team. This role will be responsible for defining and governing the organisation‑wide data architecture, data standards, and data governance framework. The role sets the target‑state architecture and roadmap for the enterprise data platform, and provides architectural guidance and assurance to the BI and Data Engineering teams. The role is focused on strategy, design authority, governance, and stakeholder alignment rather than hands‑on development or platform deployment.

Responsibilities include:

Strategy & Framework Development
  • Define and maintain a comprehensive data governance framework.
  • Define data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
Governance Leadership
  • Establish and lead a Data Governance Council.
  • Collaborate with data owners, stewards, custodians, and the BI and Data Engineering teams across departments.
Data Quality & Compliance
  • Define, oversee, and monitor data quality standards and metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
Technology & Tools
  • Evaluate and recommend data governance and platform technologies, and define the standards and patterns for their use.
  • Set the architectural direction for data platform capabilities including storage, integration, modelling, orchestration, and analytics.
  • Provide design authority and architectural assurance to the BI and Data Engineering teams who implement and support data tooling and services.
Training & Culture
  • Promote a data‑driven culture through training, awareness, and adoption of agreed data standards and governance practices.
  • Help develop role‑specific training and knowledge, e.g., responsibilities and procedures for data owners and custodians across departments.
Equal Opportunities

We provide a diverse and inclusive workplace and ensure that all of our staff respect and understand individual differences. We are an equal opportunities employer and positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marital or civil partner status, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.
