Senior IT Infrastructure & Server Engineer

Salary: £45,000 - 52,000 per year Requirements:

• We are looking for a technically strong, hands‑on professional who is comfortable operating at 3rd line level.
• We ideally have experience working within a sizeable corporate or enterprise IT environment.
• We have strong experience with Microsoft Azure Local.
• We have strong experience with Microsoft 365.
• We have strong experience with Windows Server and desktop environments.
• We have strong experience with Microsoft Configuration Manager (MECM / Config Mgr).
• We have strong experience with Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Management.
• We have strong experience with basic networking and infrastructure troubleshooting.
• Experience with SQL Server, Citrix, DNS, Always On VPN, Managed File Transfer (MFT), FTPS/SFTP and enterprise backup solutions would also be beneficial.
• We are strong problem solvers with a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
• We have good communication skills and the ability to take ownership of issues from initial investigation through to resolution.

• We provide hands‑on 3rd line infrastructure and technical support, working closely with the Service Desk and wider IT teams.
• We act as a technical escalation point for complex infrastructure issues and troubleshoot problems through to resolution.
• We take a technical lead during P1/P2 major incidents, coordinating activity across relevant resolver teams.
• We support and maintain a hybrid Microsoft infrastructure environment, covering both cloud and on‑premises technologies.
• We work extensively with Microsoft Azure, Entra , Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
• We manage and support the end‑user computing environment using Microsoft Configuration Manager (MECM/Config Mgr) and Intune.
• We support Windows Server and desktop environments, including patching, upgrades, certificates and platform optimisation.
• We work with virtualisation technologies including VMware and Hyper‑V.
• We support software deployment, provisioning and policy compliance through Config Mgr and Intune.
• We investigate recurring issues, carry out root cause analysis and implement preventative solutions.
• We contribute to infrastructure projects, technical changes and service improvements from planning through to implementation and testing.
• We maintain technical documentation and help establish infrastructure standards and best practice.
• We participate in a 24/7 on‑call rota for business‑critical services.

We are a leading e-commerce company offering an initial 10–12 month fixed‑term contract with the potential to become permanent. The role is hybrid, with 2 days per week onsite, and provides a genuinely hands‑on infrastructure / 3rd line opportunity within a well‑established and recognisable business.
