Senior Claims Adjuster – SPT

Markel International is seeking a skilled Senior Claims Adjuster to join the Special Projects Team (SPT). The role involves managing legacy and dormant claims across multiple lines of business including Marine, Aviation, Motor, A&H, Property, and specialist exposures such as Italian Public Officials.

• Assist with day‑to‑day management of SPT claims, focusing on casualty lines and professional indemnity/financial lines.
• Manage and report on key watchlist claims, attending market meetings and liaising with brokers and counsel.
• Ensure accurate claims management, reserving philosophy and diary management to proactively monitor performance.
• Identify, monitor and report complex losses to senior management and actuarial departments.
• Drive a customer‑focused claims approach, measurable through speed of service and open, honest communication with brokers and (re) insureds.
• Provide commentary on weekly movements and monthly/quarterly reports to management.
• Represent Markel at broker and client meetings, promoting the Markel Style and MINT Claims Philosophy.
• Carry out claim audits and ensure actions are followed up and documented.

• Relevant London Market experience and a working knowledge of the claims environment.
• Experience handling direct and reinsurance claims with strong negotiation skills.
• Customer‑focused, with a clear understanding of quality, clarity and speed of service delivery.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills in English.
• Team player, adaptable to multiple classes of business and able to represent the company at market and client meetings.
