Portfolio Underwriter Property – Commercial

To work alongside the Divisional Head to be primarily accountable for the Commercial Worldwide class of business at the Company as well as working across a range of classes & products in the Property Division

Key Duties (Including but not limited to):

• To be responsible for the adherence to the agreed business plan and ultimately, underwriting performance, for the World-wide Property and Property classes
• To work with the Portfolio Management team, to define and refine the underwriting appetite and take steps to ensure the Company’s portfolio is in line with said appetite to maintain a profitable portfolio
• To liaise with the Account Management team and assist in strategic conversations with Broker partners when required to communicate underwriting appetite and rationale. Alongside the Distribution team, define, develop, and deliver the underwriting strategy and its translation into a deliverable Distribution strategy
• Be accountable for providing insight for various committees, including but not limited to the Portfolio Underwriting Committee, Reserving Committee and Major Loss Panel
• Track record of success in the development and execution of commercially viable strategies, with high standards of delivery in a timely, cost-effective way
• A commercial understanding of underwriting. Able to assimilate into strategic discussions around the structuring and management of portfolios
• Experience of working in the London and Lloyd’s insurance markets
• Ideally knowledge across more than one class of business
