Following an internal promotion, we have an outstanding opportunity for an Insurance Officer to support National Grid’s strategic goals and help us on our journey to achieving net zero.

Reporting to the Group Insurance Manager, you’ll support key activities in defining and delivering the overarching global insurance strategy for National Grid and provide insurance, claims and risk management advice and support.

As well as supporting annual (re) insurance renewal activity, you’ll provide insurance and risk advice to the Global Capital business for large-scale projects and be responsible for identifying insurable risks opportunities and cost-effective insurance solutions across the Group.

This role will be based out of The Strand office
, and we’d hope to see you at least two days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!

• Input to (re) insurance strategies and solutions for the Group, working with (re) insurance brokers, claim administrators and other service providers to support the insurance programmes.
• Lead on (re) insurance renewal processes and activities including collection and analysis of data and co-ordinating submissions to (re) insurers.
• Support the strategy and placement of Owner Controlled Insurance Programmes for large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Review and negotiate contractual insurance obligations.
• Ensure insurance risks are managed and reported to appropriate forums effectively.
• Provide support to the Group Insurance Manager in day-to-day interactions with the group’s captive insurance companies and brokers.
• Provide insurance advice to businesses and stakeholders.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of insurance market influences and developments and share across the team.

• Experience with in the insurance and risk management profession with a solid understanding of the global insurance market.
• Knowledge of insurance fundamentals and the usual lines of coverage purchased by a company of this size and nature with a detailed understanding in some of these classes.
• Excellent communication skills as will have interfaces with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
• An ability to critically review diverse sources of information and data, draw conclusions and produce compelling insurance and claims analysis, reports, presentations, and strategies.
• Proactive and a self-starter.
• Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team.

Up to £63,000 depending on experience.
