Location: City Of London

We are currently seeking a qualified freelance BSL Interpreter to join our team of professionals in providing high-quality interpreting services in healthcare settings across London
.

The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating communication between Deaf patients and healthcare professionals, ensuring that patients receive accurate and appropriate information about their care.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide BSL interpreting services in healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and GP surgeries
  • Facilitate communication between Deaf patients and healthcare professionals, ensuring that patients receive accurate and appropriate information about their care
  • Work independently and collaboratively with other interpreters and healthcare professionals
  • Keep accurate records of interpreting assignments and maintain confidentiality of patient information
  • Attend training sessions and participate in continuing professional development opportunities as required
Requirements:
  • Qualified BSL Interpreter with relevant interpreting qualifications, including NVQ Level 6 in British Sign Language Interpreting
  • Membership of the National Register of Communication Professionals working with Deaf People (NRCPD)
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working as a BSL Interpreter in healthcare settings
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Good knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare practices
  • Fluency in British Sign Language and English
