Position: School Premises Assistant | Immediate Start - 20th July | 5 Hours Per Day

Role Summary

School Premises Assistant – Immediate Start on 20th July, 5 hours per day, based in Lewisham.

About the Role

You will support two primary school sites in Lewisham, ensuring safe, clean, and well-functioning premises. The role involves split shifts across the school year with occasional evening events.

Working Hours and Shift Details
  • Term Time: 6:00am – 11:00am or 1:30pm – 6:30pm (rotating split shifts; availability required)
  • Holiday Periods: 8:00am – 1:00pm or 11:00am – 4:00pm
  • Some shifts may also run from 7:45am – 12:45pm or 1:15pm – 6:15pm, depending on site needs
  • Occasional support for school events such as parent evenings, performances, or governor meetings, typically no more than three additional hours per instance
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular checks and maintenance of school buildings and grounds
  • Ensure security of the site, including locking/unlocking procedures
  • Support health and safety standards and procedures
  • Complete minor repairs and liaise with contractors when necessary
  • Assist with preparation of school spaces for events
  • Monitor cleaning standards and ensure site cleanliness
  • Manage waste and recycling
  • Respond to emergencies and urgent site matters
Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience in a premises or facilities assistant role (school experience desirable but not essential)
  • Strong practical skills in minor maintenance, repairs and general upkeep
  • Good knowledge of health and safety standards
  • Organised, reliable and able to manage time effectively
  • Willing to work flexibly to meet the needs of the site
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Holds a valid Enhanced DBS or is willing to obtain one
Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of maintenance experience (preferred)
  • Valid driving licence (preferred)
