Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Building Maintenance
reliably.
Install, maintain and repair electrical systems and associated plant equipment in line with statutory requirements and industry standards.
Carry out inspections and preventative maintenance across building services, including electrical systems, HVAC, fire alarms and associated equipment.
Support wider building maintenance activities, using your multi-skilled experience to help keep the site operating effectively.
Monitor and operate Building Management Systems (BMS) where required.
Work in accordance with Permit to Work systems, Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices.
Coordinate and work alongside specialist subcontractors, ensuring activities are completed safely and to the required standard.
Use CAFM systems and handheld devices to manage work orders, update job progress and maintain accurate maintenance records.
Identify and report equipment defects, safety concerns, accidents and near misses promptly.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, clients and contractors
communicating any engineering issues that could impact service delivery.
Help achieve 100% statutory compliance by ensuring planned maintenance activities are completed accurately and within required timescales.
Support weekend and out-of-hours maintenance activities where work cannot be completed during normal client operating hours.
- A qualified Electrical Engineer with a City & Guilds/NVQ Level 1, 2 or 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related electrical discipline.
- 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations qualification.
- A minimum of 5 years' relevant engineering or electrical maintenance experience.
- Strong experience carrying out PPM, reactive maintenance, fault-finding and electrical installation work.
- Good knowledge of electrical systems, statutory compliance and Health & Safety requirements.
- Experience working with Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Good knowledge of HVAC systems and associated building services.
- Basic mechanical and plumbing skills would be advantageous.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, handheld devices and maintenance/CAFM systems.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- A customer‑focused approach with high standards and pride in the quality of your work.
- A positive, flexible and adaptable attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work professionally with clients, colleagues and contractors.
- A willingness to undertake further training and development to expand your technical skills.
- Flexibility to work weekends and outside normal operating hours when required for planned or intrusive maintenance activities.
