Portfolio Underwriter Property

To work alongside the Divisional Head to be primarily accountable for the North American Open Market class of business at the Company

Key Duties (Including but not limited to):

• Working alongside the Divisional Head, define, develop, and deliver the underwriting strategy for the North American Open Market class, ensuring that the annual business plan is written profitably, with a view to long term management of the portfolio
• Hold strong senior market relationships which allow for leverage and continue to build new global relationships to access distribution channels
• Work with the Underwriting Directors and Portfolio Management to regularly update underwriting strategies by class to reflect the market conditions
• Provide leadership and development to direct reports and to the Property division. Offer underwriting guidance to non-underwriting functions at the Company where required
• Track record of class level portfolio management, leading a team to build a profitable portfolio of business
• Track record of success in the development and execution of commercially viable strategies, with high standards of delivery in a timely, cost-effective way
• Experience of working in the London and Lloyd’s insurance markets
• Knowledge and experience across more than one class of business
• A commercial understanding of underwriting. Able to assimilate into strategic discussions around the structuring and management of portfolios
