Role DescriptionArcadis is seeking a Studio Manager for the Architecture and Urbanism division of the Global Business Area Places, specifically within the Placemaking practice. The Studio Manager reports to the Practice Group Manager, Placemaking and leads a team of Master Planners, Urban Designers and Landscape Architects in the Placemaking Studio. The role focuses on delivering financial targets, operational efficiency, and workforce optimisation within the Placemaking sector.
RoleAccountabilities
- Manage the Studio with accountability for client solutions resource utilization, project delivery, quality, and profitability. Conduct weekly staff meetings.
- Manage Studio budget and track performance of project teams against the approved business plan; initiate corrective action as required to achieve targets for profitability, billings, and collections.
- Develop annual revenue targets, capacity budgets, and business plans in consultation with the Business Unit Director and Practice Group Managers.
- Drive local office marketing activities, review all proposals and contracts to ensure consistency with the country’s approved business plan and adherence to Arcadis professional standards and policies.
- Lead large complex full-service projects with long‑term solutioning and ongoing client relationships.
- Develop and coach Studio members to achieve high performance, growth, and personal development.
- Interface with GOPS (including BPO, DtR, MEPC, and Quality) to drive continuous improvement.
- Make recommendations on recruitment, hiring, discipline, and staff reductions in consultation with senior colleagues.
- Support the growth objectives of the Country Practice Group:
- Develop, implement, and execute innovation and effective solutions for projects (working in collaboration with the Growth team).
- Facilitate cross‑Studio collaboration.
- Mentor and coach team members and future leaders.
- Bachelor’s degree or post‑graduate qualification and/or fellowship in an appropriate professional institution.
- Professional Planner, Registered Architect, Landscape Architect, or equivalent preferred.
- Deep expertise in a key service line and sector.
- Substantial experience (18 years or more) in a discipline, including 10+ years in Engineering/Infrastructure consultancy.
- Experience leading and implementing complex business change solutions.
- Experience managing business relationships at executive level.
- Experience managing teams across geographies.
- Significant experience on large‑scale/highly complex projects.
