MLC Partners are delighted to be supporting a leading London university in recruiting an interim Senior Facilities Operations & Safety Manager. This is a busy, hands-on role with responsibility for facilities operations, health & safety, service delivery and team management across multiple London sites.

The role:

You will take ownership of the day-to-day operation of facilities and services, ensuring a high-quality experience for staff, students and visitors. Working closely with senior stakeholders, contractors and internal teams, you will also lead health & safety activity and drive improvements across operational processes and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the day-to-day management of facilities and operational services across multiple sites.
  • Oversee health & safety policies, risk assessments, inspections, incident reporting and follow-up actions.
  • Manage and develop the facilities operations team, setting priorities and ensuring high standards of delivery.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, suppliers and external premises providers.
  • Review and improve operational processes, procedures and service standards.
  • Manage facilities-related procurement, supplier relationships and budgets, ensuring value for money.
  • Support the operational delivery of new, refurbished or changing spaces and facilities.
About you:
  • Significant experience in facilities management and operational leadership.
  • Higher Education experience is highly desirable, with wider public sector experience required as a minimum.
  • Strong experience managing health & safety within a complex environment.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualification, ideally IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Proven line management experience, including motivating and developing staff.
  • Experience managing contractors, suppliers, procurement and budgets, alongside strong stakeholder management skills.
