The Job Role

Reporting into Deputy Head of Publicity, the Press Officer will devise and implement a diverse range of publicity campaigns for our distributed titles.

The Press Officer role sits in the busy and dynamic Marketing and Publicity Division, but also sits alongside the Simon Global Sales team and will build internal relationships (UK sales, international publicity and marketing teams) and external relationships (eg author and agent).

The Press Officer will develop and deliver imaginative, effective, and high-impact publicity campaigns that raise the profile of Simon Global titles, driving awareness and supporting sales growth across the UK market. They will be responsible for devising publicity strategies and executing campaigns across the Simon Global list, taking ownership of the publicity schedule and using your commercial awareness and editorial judgement to identify the titles with the greatest PR potential in the UK.

Working closely with the Intergroup Sales Manager, as well as publicists and editors across Simon & Schuster's offices worldwide you will build strong international relationships, manage expectations with authors and agents, and ensure clear, proactive communication to deliver successful campaigns from start to finish.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, proactive, and highly motivated, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. They will have a strong understanding of what makes an inventive and strategically driven publicity campaign, with the ability to identify the right audiences to maximise coverage, drive sales, and deliver against the objectives of both international publishing teams and the UK sales team.

Highly organised and adaptable, they will be comfortable managing multiple priorities and delivering several campaigns simultaneously. They will thrive in a fast-paced environment, working across a diverse range of nonfiction, fiction, children's, and YA titles while confidently balancing competing deadlines.

They will have established media contacts and be committed to developing and maintaining strong relationships with journalists, producers, influencers, and serial editors across print, broadcast, digital, and social media. Working independently, they will be confident in allocating publicity resources across the Simon Global list, using sound commercial judgement to prioritise campaigns and maximise opportunities for UK audiences.

Please note due to the nature of the industry the candidate maybe required to work non-office hours to support authors at publicity events.
